The El Riad Shrine is located on Phillips Avenue in Historic Downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It was, at one time, the premier dance hall in the Midwest. We took ownership of the building on October 1, 1980. Some remodeling was initially done to provide offices and meeting rooms. Since then, the roof, electrical systems, HVAC, the bar area, the offices and meeting areas have been extensively modernized. It has been the site of many Shrine activities including Midwest Sessions, ceremonials, Potentate's Balls, and hundreds of parties. This beautiful facility is available for rental for weddings, parties and other events. For more information contact the office.

El Riad translated to English is Luxurient Gardens. The first Ceremonial was held on May 25, 1888 under Dispensation. With the help of Cyrus Eaton, Potentate of El Kahir Shrine and mayor of Cedar Rapids IA, a charter was granted to El Riad at the Imperial Council Session held in Toronto, Canada, in June, 1888. We were the 43rd Shrine to join the Imperial.
